Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to Sonia Ștefan: recruiter and marketing analyst at Better QA!

Sonia joined us as a recruiter last year and has settled in as an indispensable team member!

With a naturally outgoing and team-oriented personality, Sonia never finds a dull day doing interviews due to all of them ending in engaging conversations. Besides reading resumes, Sonia participates in the marketing processes, helping with social media and lead generation, and being an essential part of the marketing party banter.
Outside work, Sonia’s interests range from playing video games to smothering her three cats, sometimes simultaneously.

Read out more about her secret talent and the weirdest fact she knows below:

What is your role at BetterQA?

I am a recruiter. I hold interviews with people that want to apply for a job at our company whenever we have a job position open. I’m usually the first face a candidate sees, so I must also be careful of how I conduct myself in interviews in order to give them a fair representation of the company.

Before BetterQA, what previous jobs did you have?

I’ve had a few odd jobs here and there, from wearing a mascot costume for a kid’s event to being a fundraiser for a humanitarian association. Wearing the costume was definitely more fun, though.

Why did you join BetterQA, and what has kept you here?

I’ve met with some employees working in HR, and we hit it off pretty quickly. I sent my CV, and after a month or so, I got hired.

What do you find the most challenging, and what do you like most at BetterQA?

The most challenging part is obviously hosting the interviews. There are many things to look out for while also asking questions and taking notes.

It is cliche, but what I like most about BetterQA is the team. The HR department is very tightly knit together, and we are always there to help each other in the department when need be. When we’re not talking about work, we just banter about whatever topic of conversation is that day.

What career path would you follow if you weren’t doing this?

This is honestly what I’ve wanted to do. Being a recruiter means that there’s almost never a dull day. Meeting people and engaging with them in conversations, even if they sometimes stray slightly from the interview, is a welcome occurrence on both my end and on the people I interview.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

Playing video games, going out with my friends, and smothering my three cats with love and affection.

What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?

I like singing, and I’m pretty good at it too. I used to take singing lessons back in school, but I’m mostly too shy to actually sing in front of people.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Southern France. There are wonderful vineyards, lavender fields, and medieval-style towns. My favorite town there is Conques.

What is the weirdest fact you know?

In the past, people mistook rhinos for unicorns.
