Introduction
Israel’s contribution to software testing is less about large outsourcing firms and more about the tools: several of the test automation platforms used worldwide, for mobile testing, visual regression and codeless automation, were built by Israeli teams and later acquired by larger international testing vendors.
Alongside the tool makers sits a smaller group of Israeli testing and quality-engineering consultancies that do the actual testing work, rather than building the platforms other companies test with.
Here is our 2026 ranking of the top QA companies serving Israel-based clients.
1. BetterQA
BetterQA is an independent QA company based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with no office in Israel. Israel’s own strength is deep-tech and cybersecurity, which is exactly the area where an INDEPENDENT security tester matters most: a team that built a security-sensitive product has a structural incentive to miss its own gaps, the same reason we ship a dedicated AI Security Toolkit rather than folding security testing into generic QA.
BetterQA holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 13485 certifications, a NATO NCIA Basic Ordering Agreement (NCAGE 1JGAL), and is an Avetta member. On Clutch: 4.9/5 from 65+ verified client reviews. Rates run $25-45/hr.
Before talking to anyone: our QA outsourcing page covers how an engagement is staffed, and software testing services lists the full scope.
What this adds for an Israel-based product team:
- ISO 27001 held directly, not inherited from a parent or an investor’s portfolio company.
- Independence from the build team, which matters more for security findings than for almost any other defect class.
- ISO 13485 for medical device software, under a documented quality system.
- $25-45/hr, senior testers with no recruitment lead time.
- Tools included, not licensed: BugBoard, Flows, Auditi, BetterFlow and the AI Security Toolkit.
Tudor Brad, BetterQA’s founder, puts the principle simply: the chef should not certify his own dish. The deadline pressure that creates bugs also creates the incentive to close them early, and an outside tester removes that conflict.
Consideration: Israel and Romania sit close to the same time zone year-round, usually no more than an hour apart depending on the exact DST transition date, so live overlap is close to a full working day. That makes BetterQA’s model closer to a nearshore engagement than the handover model used for more distant regions.
2. Qualitest
Qualitest was founded in Israel in 1997 by Ayal Zylberman and Eli Margolin. It has since grown into one of the largest pure-play QA outsourcing providers globally, with its operational headquarters reported in London and a continued major presence in Petach Tikva, Israel, alongside offices in the US, UK, India, Romania and elsewhere.
Strength: Scale. Qualitest is one of the largest dedicated QA outsourcing companies in the world, with roots and a continuing major presence in Israel.
Consideration: No longer Israel-headquartered in the formal sense; a global enterprise provider rather than a local specialist. Ask which office would staff your account.
3. Matrix
Matrix was founded in 2001 and is one of Israel’s leading technology services companies, with more than 12,000 employees worldwide and a long history of acquisitions building out its services portfolio, including QA.
Strength: National scale and depth, able to staff a QA programme inside a much larger IT services relationship.
Consideration: QA is one practice inside a very large, acquisitive IT group. Ask for a dedicated testing reference rather than its scale overall.
4. Galil Software
Galil Software is based in Nazareth and provides near-shore software R&D services.
Strength: A near-shore model built specifically for teams who want an in-country R&D partner rather than an offshore one.
Consideration: Its focus is broader R&D rather than testing specifically; confirm the depth of its dedicated QA practice.
5. Skipper Soft
Skipper Soft is based in Petach Tikva, focusing on quality engineering and test automation.
Strength: A specialist quality engineering practice with a narrow, modern focus on automation.
Consideration: Ask for client references; we could not independently verify its scale or operating history.
6. Perfecto Mobile
Perfecto was founded in 2006 in Rosh Ha’ayin by Eran Yaniv, Yoram Mizrachi and Jacky Allal. Perforce Software acquired the company in 2018 for around $200 million.
Strength: A long-established mobile and web testing platform with a well-documented history and significant acquisition value.
Consideration: Now part of Perforce, a US software company, rather than independently Israeli-owned.
7. Experitest
Experitest was founded in Tel Aviv in 2008 by Tal Barmeir, providing mobile and web test automation tooling. Digital.ai acquired the company in 2020.
Strength: A well-known mobile testing platform with more than a decade of history before its acquisition.
Consideration: Now part of Digital.ai; ask how the platform and support team have changed since the acquisition.
8. Applitools
Applitools was founded in 2013 by Gil Sever, Moshe Milman and Adam Carmi. It is headquartered in San Mateo, California, with its engineering based in Tel Aviv, and has been majority-owned by Thoma Bravo since 2021.
Strength: A widely adopted visual AI testing platform, still engineered out of Tel Aviv despite its US headquarters and private-equity ownership.
Consideration: A tools company rather than a testing services provider; it sells software, not testers.
How to choose a QA partner in Israel
Israel’s QA sector is unusually tilted towards tooling, so the first question is simple.
Do you need a tool or a tester
Perfecto Mobile, Experitest and Applitools are platforms you license and run yourself, or through an integrator. They are not a substitute for a testing team that plans, executes and reports on your product.
Still Israeli, or now part of a larger acquirer
Most of the well-known Israeli testing tools on this list have been acquired by non-Israeli companies in the last several years. That rarely changes the product, but it does change who you are contracting with and where support escalates to.
Independence
For an actual testing engagement rather than a tool licence, ask whether the provider builds software of its own, and if so, how it separates that from the testing it does for clients.
Time zone is close to a non-issue
Israel and Romania sit close to the same time zone, so a remote EU partner can work close to live hours rather than a full overnight handover.
FAQ
What are the top QA companies in Israel for 2026?
In BetterQA's 2026 ranking, the top QA companies serving Israel-based teams are: 1. BetterQA (EU-based, ISO 9001/14001/27001/13485, 4.9/5 on Clutch from 65+ verified reviews), 2. Qualitest, 3. Matrix, 4. Galil Software, 5. Skipper Soft, 6. Perfecto Mobile, 7. Experitest, 8. Applitools. BetterQA leads for teams that want a dedicated testing partner rather than a licensed tool, at rates from $25-45/hr.
Why does this list include so many test automation tool companies?
Israel's software testing industry produced several widely used automation platforms, including Perfecto Mobile, Experitest and Applitools, most of which were later acquired by larger international vendors. They are tools you license, not testing teams you hire, which is worth knowing before you shortlist one as a services provider.
Is an EU-based QA company on a similar time zone to Israel?
Yes, close to it. Israel and Romania sit within about an hour of each other depending on the exact daylight saving transition, so BetterQA's working day overlaps closely with an Israel-based team's, unlike the handover model needed for more distant regions.
Which Israeli testing companies have been acquired recently?
Perfecto Mobile was acquired by Perforce in 2018, Experitest by Digital.ai in 2020, and Applitools has been majority-owned by Thoma Bravo since 2021. All three still operate, under different ownership. A fourth well-known Israeli platform, TestProject, was acquired by Tricentis and shut down in 2023, which is why it is not on this list: worth remembering before picking a free platform for anything you depend on long term.
How much does BetterQA charge?
$25-45/hr. BugBoard, Flows, Auditi, BetterFlow and the AI Security Toolkit are part of the engagement, not a separate line item.
