For our next employee spotlight, we present you Camelia Sfîrlea!

What is your role at BetterQA?

I work as a Marketing Analyst. My responsibilities vary from doing Lead Generation searches to writing technical articles for junior testers and assisting with our LinkedIn. Whenever I have some time to spear, I help my colleagues from the HR department with headhunting.

Before BetterQA, what previous jobs did you have?

Before BetterQA, I used to work as an HR intern for a company that specialized in headhunting for other companies. The clients asked for mid to senior-level IT and engineering positions, which helped me become familiar with job descriptions and requirements. I also worked on re-writing and re-arranging the candidates’ CVs to fit the client’s template – and that is how I started getting used to technical writing.

Why did you join BetterQA, and what has kept you here?

I joined BetterQA because I wanted to get into the Marketing field. Luckily one of my friends recommended me last year, and I got the chance to work with amazing people from whom I learn new things every day. I’m truly thankful to have such a nice work environment where I can improve both as an employee and an individual.

What do you find the most challenging, and what do you like most at BetterQA?

Surprisingly, working from home has proved to be a bit challenging for me. I’m looking forward to a hybrid work environment where I can socialize more with my colleagues. As for what I like the most, I have to say that BetterQA offered me the opportunity to learn stuff outside of my educational background.

What career path would you follow if you weren’t doing this?

If I weren’t doing this, I would probably do a translation course and see where that takes me. Content writing is also a field that I’m interested in once I get more accustomed to writing technical articles.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

I enjoy taking walks in nature the most. Luckily I live in the countryside, so every single walk feels like I’m surrounded by nature. At home, I prefer reading, studying Japanese, and playing video games alone or with my friends.

What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?

Translation: I studied Japanese at University. Because I’m interested in the Japanese language, culture, and history, I now study by myself. However, because I’m still not very good at Japanese, I’ll keep trying my best (to study it). I aim to pass the Japanese Proficiency Test N3 – intermediate level. My dream is to visit Japan one day.

As I mentioned above, the fun fact about me is that I’m interested in Japan and Japanese culture. It began with watching Japanese anime as a child and developed into a lifetime passion when I started to learn the language.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

I don’t have a specific favorite place. I enjoy visiting new places whenever I can, so hopefully, one day, I will have a list of my favorite places.

What is the weirdest fact you know?

Recently I’ve learned there are more Lego mini-figures than there are people on Earth. Not necessarily a weird fact, but I think it’s pretty funny.
