For products that send email: sign-ups, password resets, invoices, alerts

Email testing services: deliverability, SPF, DKIM and DMARC

We test that the email your product sends reaches the inbox, passes authentication, and cannot easily be faked by someone using your domain. Then we test the emails themselves: the right content, working links and attachments, how they display in each email client, and that they are sent at the right moment.

What we test

A DNS checker reads your records. We test what actually happens when your systems send.

SPF, DKIM and DMARC

Checked against every service that sends as your domain: your app, CRM, newsletter and support tools.

Deliverability

Test sends that confirm messages arrive, and land in the inbox rather than spam.

Spoofing resistance

We send forged mail from your domain to test mailboxes we agree with you, and check it is rejected.

Spam and phishing filtering

If your product receives email, we test that its filtering stops spam and spoofed messages.

Transactional emails

Sign-up, reset, invoice and alert emails: the right content, working links and attachments.

Rendering across clients

How your emails display in the main desktop, web and mobile email clients.

// failure cases

Where email setups usually break

Illustrative examples of defect patterns we test for. Not client data.

01 · spf

The new tool nobody added

Marketing starts sending from a new platform that is not in the SPF record, and its campaigns quietly land in spam.

02 · dmarc

A policy that only watches

DMARC is set to p=none, so mail forged from your domain is not blocked by policy and can reach your customers.

03 · transactional

The reset link that points to staging

Password-reset emails send fine, but the link opens a test environment instead of your product.

// how we work

How an email test runs

  1. A 30-minute call

    What you send, from which systems, and what is going wrong.

  2. Proposal

    Scope and a fixed price in writing, within 2 business days.

  3. NDA and DPA

    Signed before we touch your domains or mailboxes.

  4. Tests

    Record checks, test sends, spoofing tests and your email flows.

  5. Report

    Each finding with the evidence and the change that fixes it.

// who tests

Independent testers, not your email vendor

A BetterQA engineer working on a laptop next to a BetterQA mug in the Cluj-Napoca office
Our office in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Your email platform tests its own servers. Nobody tests how your app, your CRM and your newsletter tool behave together on your domain. That gap is where mail gets lost or forged.

  • A software testing company since 2018, 50+ engineers
  • NDA and DPA from day one, under our ISO 27001 system
  • No phishing of your staff: spoofing tests go only to agreed test mailboxes
// cost

What email testing costs

FixedPrice, set in the proposal

A one-off email test is a fixed price, written into the proposal after the first call. It depends on how many systems send as your domain and how many email flows your product has.

Want email checks on every release as part of ongoing QA? That runs at our hourly rate of EUR 20-45. See managed testing services.

// questions

Email testing: common questions

What is email testing?

Checking that email sent by your systems is authenticated, delivered to the inbox, hard to forge, and correct in content, links and timing.

What do SPF, DKIM and DMARC do?

SPF lists the servers allowed to send for your domain, DKIM signs each message, and DMARC tells receiving servers what to do with mail that fails them, and sends you reports.

Is an online DMARC checker not enough?

A checker reads the records. It cannot tell you whether your CRM signs its mail, whether forged mail is really rejected, or whether your reset emails work.

How much does email testing cost?

A one-off test is a fixed price in the proposal. Ongoing email checks inside a QA engagement are billed at EUR 20-45 per hour.

Will you send phishing emails to our staff?

No. We do not run social engineering campaigns. Spoofing tests are sent only to test mailboxes we agree with you in advance.

Do you test how our emails look in different clients?

Yes. We check your emails in the main desktop, web and mobile email clients and report what breaks. No DNS access is needed for any of the tests.
